A prisoner of New Orleans, Khalil Brian, was mistakenly released from prison because of a “human error”
The violent perpetrator was mistakenly released from the Aurelianz Diocese Prison due to a written error, according to the Sharif Bishop of Orleans.
The prisoner, Khalil Brian, was discharged on Friday, despite his confrontation with several charges.
The office confirmed that the internal investigation is now in implementation in a statement of WDSU.
In the statement issued by the Office of the Chief of the Arlianz Diocese, Sharif Susan Hottson admitted the mistake and acceptable responsibility.
“The Office of the Bishop of the Orleans is fully responsible for the religious error that led to the wrong release of Khalil Brian, and we offer our sincere apology to the public, and our law enforcement and court partners. This incident was the result of a human error: determining the sinner based on the last common name between two people.
“Mr. Brian faces violent and non -violent charges, and we are closely coordinated with law enforcement agencies to ensure his rapid return to reservation. Most importantly, the victims in these matters have been notified. We are carrying out guarantees to prevent this from happening again. Public safety is still the highest priority for us.”
According to the information received from the Office of the Public Prosecutor in the Orleans and Obo region, Brian was detained for his illegal possession of stolen property, possession of drug tools and the officer’s resistance.
He also had an active order from the Criminal Criminal District Department on charges of strict assault with a firearm, homelessness, and exposing children to danger and home invasion.
Brian was also wanted in the nearby Jefferson diocese and was detained based on a $ 100,000 bench for non -appearance, along with a separate bond worth $ 25,000 linked to modern felony charges.
Orleans Parish Jason Williams’s lawyer Parish Williams has issued a sharp statement after the wrong issue.
Williams said: “We realized that the prisoner Khalil Brian was released by reservation by the Sharif Office of the Arlianz Diocese earlier today because of a serious mistake in treating prisoners,” Williams said.
“Despite those (Bond), Brian was mistakenly launched when the deputies failed, in response to the bonds published by an unrelated individual to another removal, he failed to properly verify the identity and the Bianan emptying it instead,” added Da.
“This is a very disturbing accident that emphasizes the ongoing regular issues surrounding the practice of custody and controlling detained individuals. The failure to confirm the inmate identity before release is an unacceptable ending that represents a real and immediate danger to public safety.”
“OPDA victims have started awareness of the victim and will continue efforts until all the victims and witnesses associated with the Brian trial are reached. We cannot make a call, we send investigators to ensure that the affected victims and their families are notified and received appropriate support.
“The public deserves an integrity, professional, and vigilant system, especially when it comes to protecting victims.”
Hottson confirmed that all well -known victims have been notified.
The provincial prosecutor’s office said that investigators are active to reach anyone who may not have been contacted, including through personal visits if necessary.
This version comes 10 weeks after a high -level escape from the same prison on May 16, when 10 prisoners escaped from the Arlianz prison prison.
Nine was restored and acknowledged that she was not guilty earlier this week. One man, Derek Grows, is still a student, according to court records and Obsussa.
The law application now works via the parish lines to determine and detain the Bryan location.
“We urge anyone with information about Khalil Brian’s place to immediately contact the law,” the provincial lawyer office said.
The Sherif Bishop of Orleans and the Office of the Public Prosecutor in the Orleans Parish region did not respond to the request for suspension.
