Arslanbek Makhmudov says he is grateful that Britain’s heavy weight Dave Allen has been selected as his opponent for their 12 -round kneeler on Dazn on October 11th. Allen (24-7-2, 19 kos) chose the prestigious 6’6 ″ Makhmudov (20-2, 19 kos) from a list of five fighters to his opponent.
Champion Eddie Hearn says that if Allen defeats Arslanbek, his next fight could be against Dontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua. So, there are many at stake to Allen, 33, in this fight. That would be a huge payday of late for Allen to fight Joshua. Who would have ever thought that a ham-ac-cer like Allen could be about to have a chance to fight AJ?
It’s still a lot to ask for ‘The White Rhino’ to pull off Makhmudov’s agitation. It’s one thing to beat a domestic level fighter like Johnny Fisher, but it’s a different story doing so against Makhmudov. The most likely result of this fight is Allen being bulled in two or three rounds by the Great Russian on October 11th.
“No, I didn’t know that. Thank him for my choice. It gives me a good chance,” said Arslanbek Makhmudov to Boxing King Media When he was told that Dave Allen was chosen as his opponent. “Maybe my style is comfortable for him. I don’t know.”
It’s interesting how Makhmudov took the news while stepping Allen in his hand -selecting. You would think he would be insulted to be selected. It is clear that Allen has been chosen because he believes he can win, but Makhmudov doesn’t mind. He is only grateful.
“If I win, the next will be the best man. He always moves on, attacks, and many body shots,” Makhmudov said for Allen. “It’s a good style for me. I know the style, and I’m doing my job, of course. It’s not a problem with a lot of people (in the arena) because in the circle, just me and him. This is the reality.
“Be prepared for October,” said Makhmudov for his message to Allen. “I think it will be a great battle.”
