Terence Crawford in an impossible position goes up three weight classes to challenge what fans believe is King Pound-Am-Bound, Canelo Alvarez, on September 13th. It’s a size misdeed.

Crawford was already physically amplified in what he was able to do with his slim frame, with his weight jumping to 154 against Israil Madrimov last August. That was just one weight partition that Bud moved up. That test failed because he seemed to lose the fighting. If one was generous, he could have been scored a draw.

Crawford did not stay in 154 long enough to say that he had adapted to the weight class. No battle against the pure boxer, Madrimov, made Terence a valid younger middle weight. As such, you have to consider it still a welter weight in size. That means it goes up three weight classes to challenge the super natural middle weight canelo.
