It is no longer like a science experiment to check your drinks for drugs. Scientists in South Korea have created a new solution, a temporary tattoo sticker that quickly detects tampering. This simple sticker works faster, stays wise and gives a surprisingly powerful protection.
At first glance, it looks like normal skin art. In fact, it acts as a chemical sensor. The sticker detects GHB (Gamma Hydroxyburet), which is commonly used to increase the drink. When a small amount of GHB touches the sticker, the design varies from yellow to a second red color.
It offers a quick and subtle way to be safe for anyone in breakthrough parties, college students and social settings. Best of all, it is easier to use than any traditional strip, swab or test card.

How does GHB-detaching tattoo sticker work
Tattoos are easy to use. Before leaving, apply a sticker on your hand, wrist or hand. Then, if you are not sure of your drink, just dip your finger, then touch the drop on the sticker. The change in red is the GHB in the drink. Like other tests that may take several minutes or require privacy to use, this method is fast and low-profile, perfect for crowded clubs, bars or home parties.

The new tattoo sticker searches GHB in your drink. (ACS sensor converted from 2025, DOI: 10.1021/ACSSerser .4C03737)
This drug-detailing tattoo sticker works in real life situations
Science behind this sticker is effective. It is made of flexible material called polymethylsiloxen (PDMS) and is a chemical called BHE in the inner gel. This is what reaches GHB and triggers the color change. Researchers tested stickers on drinks like whiskey, beer, vodka, sozo and even coffee. They were still stressed, melted, or dealing with water. The search limit is so sensitive that it can catch less than 0.01 micrograms per milliliter per milliliter.
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Better? If your sticker changes the color, the red result will remain visible for up to 30 days after you remove it. This means that you can use it as evidence if you possibly needed.
Scientists shared the results in a paper published in the ACS Senseer Journal.

Drinking is a serious problem that is difficult to see, difficult to stop, and it is difficult to prove. But this sensor like a tattoo changes it. It adds a layer of quick, subtle and science-established protection. In the future, more versions may occur to find other drugs such as ketamine or Rohipnol. But now, this single-stick solution can prevent the hazardous situation before the beginning.
