Five in Xinjiang China was killed after a cable on the suspension bridge

Five people were killed after a cable on a suspended bridge captured in the Xinjiang region in northwestern China, causing them to fall from the bridge, according to the state -run news agency Xinhua on Thursday.

Shenhua said that the accident, which occurred at 6:18 pm on Wednesday in an area to see the city’s landmarks in the autonomous Eli Kazakhi province, was injured by 24 other people.

Shenhua said that the scenic area was closed while investigating the accident.

The videos on social media, verified by Reuters, show a low suspension bridge with one side with handrails made of cables hanging between the walkway and the ground below.

Videos also show at least two people lying on the ground under the bridge.

In one of the videos, a victim was placed on a wooden board, while another video shows people with temporary stretch away from the scene.

The area with an area of 25 square miles, called Xiaata, features a natural landscape including a mountain pass, valley and a river, as well as cultural remains such as the ruins of an ancient city, according to general information.

Xinhua said in a separate report that the central government sent a work squad to the accident site to oversee the investigation and treat the injured.
