Football coach in the southern Arizona state died unexpectedly from a heart attack

Kelly Pierce, a women’s football coach in southern Arizona, died suddenly on Friday at the age of only 43 years.

Pierce was a former player and lead coach of FC TUCSOSON Women, an amateur soccer club in Arizona.

During her time as a player in FC TUCSOSON WOMEN from 2013-18, Pierce worked as captain of the team while helping the club lead to the first place in the WPSL Big Sky North section in 2013.

While he was at the head of FC TUCSOSON Women from 2019-23, Pierce led the club to two Desert WPSL conference titles.

“Kelly was a talented and attractive captain as a player and a coach,” FC TUCSON Founder and President John Birman told Kgun9. She was committed to raising not only women football, but all women’s sports as a gender equality.

“More importantly, Kelly was a loyal, fierce and preacher mother not only for her children or young football players, but all children.”

During her playing days at FC TUCSOSON WOMEN, Pierce was also the main coach of the women’s football program at Mountain Vio High School in Tuxon.
