Oleksandr usyk vs. Joseph Parker: No contact from WBO Champion Camp, leaving Mandatory Fighting in doubt
Joseph Parker’s manager David Higgins says no contact was made by heavyweight champion WBO Oleksandr Usyk to start negotiations for the fights ordered by WBO.
No usyk contact
It is skeptical whether USYK (24-0, 15 ko) will choose to defend its WBO title against Parker. The chance of the fighting would take place with the report that Turki Alalshikh is not interested in supporting the fighting. Not funded, the chances that usyk will agree to face Parker slim. It would be a strange move if he chose to fight him because he doesn’t pay.
Parker (36-3, 24 KOS) won the mandatory place to challenge USYK by stopping Martin Bakole in the second round last February. Last month, the WBO ordered Oleksandr to start discussions with Parker on July 24th, giving them 30 days to discuss a deal.
“The last time I spoke to Frank Warren, there has been no engagement. You don’t manage anything in or out, but I think usyk would have now engaged in a discussion or discussion if he wanted to keep and protect his undoubted heavyweight world titles,” told him David Higgins Sky Sports News.
Usyk can be removed
Parker and Higgins should look on the bright side. Usyk is likely to be removed soon if he chooses not to fight Parker. The WBO is then likely to order Parker and the next competitor on the top site to fight for the empty belt. That would be one of these three:

It is not ideal for Parker to have to fight one of those guys for a WBO belt, but at least he would get a shot. After all, isn’t the title what Parker is interested in? If it’s just the money, it should go in another direction, as there are no opportunities for it.
