Ortiz jr vs. Thurman, Barboza Jr. Vs. Martin: Golden Boy and PBC merge for October boxing

Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman is in the October works in Golden Boy-main promotions promoted by boxing champions. Also on the card there is a conflict between Lightweightweights Arnold Barboza Jr. and Frank Martin.

Thurman Return Challenge

The fighting fans will want to see former WBA and WBC WBC weight champion Thurman (31-1, 23 KOS) challenges Ortiz JR (23-0, 21 KOS) for his Temporary Junior Mid-WTA mid-weight title. This is not the battle that Thurman would prefer, 36 ,. He has been persecuting a big game, calling Terence Crawford and Errol Spence out.

Thurman has not remained active enough to get the fighting that they want against those big names. Therefore, he has to settle for fighting Vergil Ortiz Jr., which equates to a nightmare for him on paper. With just two fights in six years, it requires the impossible for Thurman’s brittle body to do it through a difficult training camp without suffering some form of fight-postponing or canceling injury. If you are Golden Boy, it would be a good idea to have a good backup fighter who can step in when the injury bugs bite Thurman and he pulls out.
