Queensberry Signs Joshua Buatsi: Can Frank Warren Revive an Old Olympiad Falling Career?

Queensberry has signed a lightweight heavyweight competitor Joshua Buatsi to his stable. Former 175-lb Interim WBO and Fighting Olympian Buatsi 2016 champion will now be shown live on Dazn.

BUatsi’s performance concerns

Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has high hopes for the 32 -year -old Buatsi, despite his poor performances in his last two fights against Callum Smith and Willy Hutchinson. BUatsi defeated both fights, but luckily went with a victory over Hutchinson.

Warren has the idea of possibly matching BUatsi against the winner of David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde on November 22nd for the WCLC lightweight heavyweight title, or Dmitry Bivol Bivol Vs Artur Beterbiev trilogy winner. BUatsi is unlikely to get a shot against that of that fight.

Joshua Buatsi’s popularity problem

The problem is, Buatsi has never been a popular fighter, and has had problems in his last two fights. It has not been considered a kind of essential opponent for Benavidez or Bivol to want to fight. Buatsi is considered a British domestic level fighter to run the mill regularly. There is nothing special about it. Amazingly, Warren chose to sign him after his horrific loss to Callum Smith. He was looking ready for the scrap pile after that fight.

Boost a fore profile

Warren needs to give buatsi through a Gauntlet of predatory sharks in 175 In order for him to get interested fans in him used for the world’s title shot. Fighting men like Craig Richards, Hutchins, Smith, and Dan Azeez is not enough. Buatsi needs to fight against the talented junior fighters like David Morrell and Imam Khataev.

If he can’t get them, Warren needs to attract some of the Super Middlewights like Osley Iglesias, Diego Pacheco, or Christian Mbilli up to 175 to fight BUatsi. I can’t see it beating any of those wonderful middle weights, but these are the types of fighters he needs to fight to become more popular.

“After talking to several champions, Queensberry has a plan I am comfortable with. I’m a British fighter, and the support I get from UK fans means everything,” said Joshua Buatsi.

“There’s nothing like fighting in front of a home crowd – the energy, the passion, it drives me. With Queensberry, I have a team that understands that and supports me right here in the UK.”
