SABRINA IONESCU in MVP discussion with Naphesa Colllier with injury
Dallas – Professional athletes need a healthy ego, and certainly Sabrina Ainsko has one.
The Freedom Star has a way to move in the flight wires of pride and self -service achievements. Like the dual traps and paintings it faces on the field, Ionscu knows its place and when it comes on its way.
She refuses to fall victim to her self -leniency.
With the exit of Naphesa Collier for the foreseeable future due to the right ankle sprain, the MVP conversation for this year has become more interesting, and Ionscu finds itself as a dark horse in the race.
Coach Sandy Brundelo campaign for a point goalkeeper before the Friday match against the wings, saying that all the stars four times should be “there” in the list of candidates.
But being MVP, for iOESCU, will be more than a secondary result for its real goal this season: to lead freedom to the second WNBA championship in a row.
“This is the upper part of everything,” Ionscu told the Post. “Obviously, I know when I play like MVP, we always have a great opportunity to win. Like, when I am out and do all the things I do because, for me, it is not only my ability to get passes, to match these groups, we do it in difficult groups,”
Freedom was hit by injuries this season.
They only played two games with their full strength and went to great extensions without MVPS Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart.
But Ionescu was fixed for freedom, night outside.
It has missed only one game this season in Seattle because KINK is in its neck, although the distress affected her play during a June wild trip.
Otherwise, it continued to carry freedom, which remains second in the league standings despite all the adversity they dealt this season.
IENESCU entered on Friday in the fifth place in the league, with a average of 20 points. It is in the sixth place among the guards in counter -balls (4.9) and the eighth in the league to obtain passes (5.5) while the average of the eleventh minutes in the league.
She won the title of player for the month of July and was in a state of tears since the All-Star break.
But the numbers only tell part of the IEESCU story, whose effects cannot always be determined in the square degree.
IONESCU has gravitational clouds can disrupt the defense. Its movements outside the ball can open opportunities for teammates.
It can push the ball in a transition or throwing 40 -foot stones that have been perfectly placed for a teammate throughout the stadium.
Augusco has also improved as a defender. Some, partly, because she entered this season in the best shape of her life.
“It was really great for us throughout the season with everything we need,” said Brundelo. “It is clear that we know it can score the ball. It was doing it at a high rate, but its ability to apostasy, and its ability to create a crime for its teammates – yes, it must definitely be in a MVP conversation.”
There is no minimum level than the games that are played for the eligibility of prizes, as is the case in the American Professional League, although some voters believe that players should play nearly 75 to 80 percent of the normal season to be considered qualified.
This year, this means 33 to 35 games.
Coller, who played in 26 games, is expected to miss at least two weeks but can be marginalized for a longer period. Alyssa Thomas, who appeared in 25 games, is also worth a place in the MVP conversation.
The fourth MVP case of A’Ja Wilson, after winning again last year, is tainted by Aces Rocky this season.
IENESCU has the opportunity to raise MVP shares over 15 games in the fifty season of this season – not worry about it.
((1) Just a kind of trying and focusing on the things I can control, clearly, the best I can in this team and win, “said Ainsko. “But it is clear, I would like to say that what I am proud of is how I can continue to improve every year in several different ways and on both sides of the ball and not really satisfied for the year I have but continue to try.
“This is something that is difficult to do, and something I have always done in my career is to continue to improve. Therefore, I know that I do not really scratch the surface of the player in which I will remain when all this is done and did. Therefore, I just try to continue to hold myself with this standard and do everything the team needs to win.”
