The Sturgeon Moon Will Shine Bright This Weekend
The end of this week is your chance to see the last summer moon in 2025. The full moon will be found in August, known as SturGeon Moon, on Saturday, August 9, to reach a peak light at 3:55 am EST.
“Sturgeon Moon” is one of several names given to whole satellites, each of which represents the natural changes that occur during the opposite month. The Stuget Moon is named from the large Stugeon fish in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlin. Historically, the original freshwater fish were arrested during the month of August and early September, and were a vital food source for the original American tribes in the region.
The best time to watch the full moon in Moonrise on August 8, when it rises above the eastern horizon in the northern hemisphere. It will be separated on the night of 12-13 August in the northern hemisphere, achieving up to 100 “shooting star” per hour.
